A Philadelphia native, Diane began her formal musical training at the age of nine under the guidance of Ms. Danielle Rousseau. Diane credits her friend and former music teacher for setting her on a "very enriching and rewarding" path. As Diane's skill progressed, she continued private study under Adeline Tomasone (now Assistant Professor of Flute at Rowan University). Diane went on to be awarded the William Kincaid Scholarship, which allowed her to continue her flute studies with the late, great John Krell (piccoloist of the Philadelphia Orchestra). After graduating from the Overbrook High School Music Magnet Program, Diane entered the famed Eastman School of Music where she studied with the renowned and highly lauded Bonita Boyd.

Though well gifted in flute and piccolo performance, Diane sought to add teaching to her credentials upon graduation from Eastman. She became a woodwind specialist of music magnet schools upon returning to Philadelphia, her first appointment being the Girard Academic Music Program. She later advanced to the position of Band Director of Music Magnet Programs, becoming the first African-American woman appointed to such a position in the history of the School District of Philadelphia. Working in that capacity, she's held positions at Overbrook High School Music Magnet (her alma mater) and served a brief tenure as Band Director at Penn Wood High School, in the William Penn School District. Diane currently holds the position of Director of Bands at the Shawmont Academic Music Program, a magnet secondary school, where she conducts Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Pit Orchestra. Diane has also worked at the prestigious Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts Summer Music Program coaching flute, clarinet, and saxophone quartets with music ranging from baroque to be-bop. Her dedication to teaching earned her the conductorship of the All-Philadelphia Middle School Concert Band, leading an ensemble of 131 instrumentalists in a historic performance on the stage of the Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall in 2006, another milestone in her career.

Diane continues to freelance as a soloist and as a member of several ensembles. Such groups she’s played with included the Promenade Orchestra, the Heidelberg Open-Air Festival Orchestra in West Germany, Orchestra Society of Philadelphia, Ocean City Pops Orchestra, Opera North Association, Savoy Opera Company, ConcertOPERA Philadelphia, the Welcome America Orchestra, the Paul Roberts Singers, the Epsilon Jones Choir, the Philadelphia Boys Choir, and a host of other ensembles along the east coast. As well, Diane has had the opportunity to perform behind a number of great artists such as Rita Moreno, Shirley Jones, Clark Terry, Dexter Gordon, Peter Nero, Joel Grey, Ron Carter, and many more.
